@jslvtr Hi. Thank you for your offer to contribute. I could definitely use the help...
How does this repo relate to the GNOME/meld one? This project is based on GNOME/meld. It's the upstream. I pull and sync frequently and fix any OSX related issue then build a DMG file. The OSX folder contains everything needed to build a DMG. There are various other patches throughout the code.
Should we contribute to GNOME/meld, or here? I appreciate the website has some information but it's not fully clear. If the answer is that it depends on what the contribution is, could we make this explicit? It depends: OSX specific goes here. General functionality goes to GNOME
How often do we sync from GNOME/meld, and how to we contribute back to them? Depends on how busy I am. I made a couple of relevant pull requests that got merged, but then there's a lot of code that needs cleanup that I didn't create PRs for. I was planning a release two weeks ago, but then I had a tragic family event. My own brother was murdered in the NZ terrorist attack and I haven't still recovered from the pain of losing him.
What things are expected in a PR in terms of documentation, tests, any particular styleguide, etc. To this repo: Just be as clean as possible, follow the same code style used by the upstream project.
Thank you @yousseb , I'll add core functionality to the parent repo, and any os-x specific stuff here.
I am terribly sorry for your loss, please take care :(
Hey, I'd like to contribute to Meld (I'm using OS X), but not sure about a few things:
Could I get some pointers about this before I start working on some of the issues?
Thanks!
