Unstable 5.0GHz network after upgrading to RT-N56U_3.0.3.0-025_full.zip #581

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade to RT-N56U_3.0.3.0-025_full.zip.
2. Use the 5.0GHZ n network.

After upgrading the firmware, the 5.0GHz network become unstable. It sometimes
simply loose connectivity and, then, I cannot find such a network on the list
(the 2.4GHz network is there). If I connect to 2.4GHz network, change some
settings on 5.0GHz network parameters and press apply, then I can see the
5.0GHz network again!

The behavior occur with my Macbook, my iPad and a Windows 7 based laptop.

Same here. Frustrating. I am a freelance web developer who just lost a day to
this. $$

I came back to version -018

It was impossible to use the firmware in that conditions... my AiDisk_a1 drive
was unmounting by itself too.

Hi there,

still the same with -026. My problem (see the 5 GHz streaming issue) was also
there in -018. Had to disable the 5 GHz network completely ...

Cheers

My problem is back... it took a long for repeating, but, once again, my 5.0GHz
network becomes unreachable after some time. Then, I have to reboot the router
to make it acessable again.

Is your SSID hidden and/or do you use special characters in it?

Original comment by snake.pl...@gmail.com on 28 Nov 2012 at 7:43

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
My SSIDs are Carrano_G (2.4GHz network) and Carrano_N (5.0GHz network). They
are not hidden.

Firmware -025 and -026 used force 2T3R mode (TX=300Mbps/RX=450Mbs) for AP 5GHz.
Some 3T3R adapters poor work with 2T3R AP.

Firmware -027 has manual spatial streams control and you can set legacy 2T2R
mode.

Ok... I will try that when I arrive home.

Do you recommend the version 3.0.3.1-027 or the version 3.0.3.1v-027?

I also have an underscore in my SSID. I read in a well respected PC magazine,
that this could possibly cause some trouble under some circumstances. I'll
rename the network tonight and let you know whether this changes anything...

That didn't do the trick, either. 5 GHz band is still unusable.

Issue 592 has been merged into this issue.
