Use case: Feldenkrais community of learners #25

I'll be running two workshops in the coming months:

If you are interested in attending the second one, you could potentially be the A/V guy or something... I would like to try to capture both, but the second one is particularly important to me. Interesting, as it's less direct impact. I guess I do still have my heart in this science thing!

We will also be planning a feldy festival with a free day of feldenkrais for the public, and starting a community-led class with rotating teachers. May 13 - so that's the soonest-approaching thing.

A community of Feldenkrais learners is where the strong point of collaboration for Larry Goldfarb would be. He already has a MOOC set up (I can ask if you can join, even though you're not a Feldenkrais student) at http://mindinmotion-online.com

I also have a URL for my movement practice, http://reallygoodmoving.com. Mostly focused now on http://taichi.reallygoodmoving.com (which is implemented using a static Jekyll site serving up Elm, which is like Haskell for the web - you would probably like it, except the author got rid of explicit monads).

This is fun, tractable, and still addresses #3, if somewhat indirectly by providing a support to those on the front lines, which is my calling in life.

Wow - good conversation so far Seb. Please keep existing as a construct in my head that I can talk to! 👅

If you don't veto, I will bring a number of other parties into the conversation around this use case:

Below is the stack Larry is currently using. Probably it is very hard for us to extend and develop on this platform, so a natural question is how to interoperate. This is the result of a LONG period of experimentation and Larry finding what works for him. I have no idea what his usage numbers are though... so I don't know how well it's working for others. But he has very good content, so I expect that "good enough" is a pretty low bar on the technical side in terms of UX (i.e., individuals will be motivated to figure it out, because they really want what's inside).

Wordpress running the Genesis framework on http://websynthesis.com/

If you look at URLs when you're signed on you'll see the Locator and the Registrar sites are separate sites under the umbrella of the main site. The online school is also a subsite, running the Buddyboss* social learning theme linked (via APIs) to Learn Dash, our course management system (the other kinda CMS), and the WizIQ** virtual classroom.

At one point, the Lesson Locator was being developed here (not sure if that's what's live, but if so would imply that some issues have been solved with wordpress interop): https://github.com/mindinmotion/lesson_locator

I have also started notes for my science workshop here: https://github.com/davclark/feldy-science

I would propose that the above repo be a starting point for convening individuals. Maybe I should move it to the reallygoodmoving org before convening folks to facilitate the sense of convening a domain-focused team?
