Doesn't work for portable version (former did) #29

Hi there, i've always used Portable Thunderbird and don't plan to change. The extension only works on installed version as of now. I noticed that a sub-folder named "mintray-reanimated@ysard" is created in profile's extension folder for the installed version but not for the portable.

I took that folder and put it in the same place through in my portable app folder. Sadly, it seems that's not enough, still not working. I guess it's just a matter of few little things to be changed but i don't have the knowledge to do. I'm sure somebody else here does however :) Let me know, thanks!

PS: I don't think it's important since it's about a portable app but i'm on Windows 7 x64

Hi, can you give me what the console returns (Ctrl + Shift + J) (by anonymizing confidential data such as your username or profile name if they are present) when you have just installed the addon and have restarted the software as requested? I suppose that the path of the profile is misinterpreted and decompression of the dll is not loaded.

Looks like moving the app folder to another drive solved the issue, it nows goes to tray! I got another issue now : TB is coming back up by itself suddenly.. and from my understanding, it's when MasterPassword+ is locking it.

Hi, maybe an event is indeed badly captured.

I do not know the Windows ecosystem for years, sorry.

Does this means you won't fix it? Hope i'm wrong.. I posted in MP+ forum meanwhile, you can see that here : https://github.com/vanowm/MasterPasswordPlus/issues/150

Hi I do not have this problem with MasterPassword+ in Debian / KDE, it's a problem that seems specific to Windows. Unfortunately, I can not run tests on this environment in a near future.

In addition, the addon MasterPassword+ (this one also) will not be compatible with the new versions of Thunderbird if the developer does not migrate to a restartless extension. This addon will not be updated with major fixes; it's too time consuming to maintain this undead code; an alternative will be offered by me or someone else. We have until October 2019 (Thunderbird 68) to propose alternatives with APIs that are not yet mature.

It works for me with X-Thunderbird 60.
