Experimental-backends with glx makes picom not composite properly. #645

Steps of reproduction

  1. Launch picom with --experimental-backends, glx backend and dual_kawase blur

Expected behavior

Work as intended blur backgrounds, drop shadows

Current Behavior

Every window is blurry can't see anything, included video of example. Example video

Other details

While picom is launched with these options I get spammed with this error:

[ 22/06/21 20:38:50.829 _gl_compose ERROR ] GLX error at line 449: GL_INVALID_FRAMEBUFFER_OPERATION

Picom worked fine with --experimental-backends and dual_kawase before I updated my system, including picom-git. Works fine if I don't use --experimental-backends or switch to xrender backend.

Update: picom still works fine in commit 21dfe207940837809cccd119462469e07d604676 although breaks on commit 2a60836a9bc30d92b4adb46d5f48684a5d2f1ecb and onwards

I can't reproduce on my system (i3 4.19.1, nvidia 465.31-6 on GTX 660 Ti, linux 5.12.8-arch1-1).

Not sure if an apitrace will help in this case. In the meantime, you could in printf-debugging fashion build picom yourself and put a call to gl_check_err() after every gl…() call in _gl_compose() to narrow down which API-call might be the offending one.

I can reproduce completely black windows under xfce4 now. #648 fixes that problem. @ricardascubukinas can you confirm whether #648 fixes your problem as well?

Yes bf79653fa253d5c0f2e77c4c94aec445ffd2fbf9 fixes the issue for me. @tryone144 please merge it into the main branch
