CREDITS out of date #2786

Bug report

I just want to report that the CREDITS file (list of contributors) hasn't been updated for 2 years now. Should it be updated ? dropped in favour of something auto generated ?

I would vote for auto-generation.

I think we basically will have the infrastructure for that when we switch tools for generating release notes, which should auto-detect new contributors. We can add another step to the release process to update the contributors during that step. I think it's worth doing that rather than adding another tool.
