You are using a modified version of youtube-dl, over which we youtube-dl developers don't have any control over. Also, since YouTube changed their player on August 25th, you'll need at least version 2014.08.25.

Either contact your package management or use our manual installation method to get the newest version.

In a pinch, this should do:

sudo emerge --unmerge youtube-dl
sudo wget https://yt-dl.org/downloads/latest/youtube-dl -O /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
hash -r

From then on, you'll be able to update with sudo youtube-dl -U.
