Rename / Move folder #80

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

Is there a way to rename a folder or move pages from one folder to another?

The only options that I see are cut-and-paste or hacking a save/restore.

Currently you can rename pages without children only. There is no "rename/move
page"
functionality.
I think this feature must be implemented as drag'n drop action in pages tree.
Other
ideas?

In terms of the page tree ...

Ideally, we should be able to organize the tree in any order we like. A great
example
of an online outliner is CheckVist. I just sent you an invite for one I started
for
Vosao (thought it's out of date now).

It would also be helpful if the outline would remember what items were
collapsed, and
even optionally start in a collapsed state.

In terms of flipping between the page tree and the page, I often wish we could
go
straight to the content tab once the page is created. (And go straight to the
content
tab after creating a page.)

Aside from drag and drop, copy and drop would also be helpful. Although it's
not part
of the page tree, copying templates would also save copy/paste juggling.

Speaking of copying, in the long term, a full staging/production mode, as Apache
Lenya uses, would be wonderful. Though, backup/restore provides nearly the same
functionality, if you setup a second application site.

Along those lines, I'm working on updates that include distributing pages
between the
"author", "designer", and "developer" category on a test site that I restored
from
the main site. (vosao.husted.com) The restore seems brought over the
www.vosao.org
accounts, so you login there too, if you like.

I don't know if we want to try and round-trip the restore later, or just
replicate
the changes by hand. I'll be happy with whatever you think is best.

I looked at CheckVist. It has a good UI for outlining. We can add this editor
as an
outlining mode to the existing page tree editor.

It's possible to put content tab to the first place so we could go straight to
the
content tab.

I think the best way is to use restore feature. In the 0.2 I will add site reset
feature so we can restore content without keeping old stuff.

Great! I should be able to do more documentation work this weekend. I'm eager to
catch up with the development work!

I wonder, could we add a read-only version of the outline for use as a sitemap?

If you are planning to make it Ajaxy, then maybe you could think about adding
some more
buttons, like delete, change-URL, or anything that is accessed more. Only two,
or three
buttons would suffice. Otherwise, it may clutter the interface.

Thanks for your time :-)

Implemented as a part of outline editor functionality.

Waiting for underlying jsTree 1.0 release.

Was this ever finished? I have found this is the only real thing lacking in the
entire system. I have a whole bunch of content I need to move around and this
will make it hard.

On a side note, the apostrophe cms has a great way of using that jsTree to move
pages around. Check out their demo at http://www.apostrophenow.com/ - click the
"reorganize" tab at the top once you log in as admin to the demo site.
