This sounds like the same problem I had. Check out issue 16:
http://code.google.com/
p/android-on-freerunner/issues/detail?id=16&can=1
You could try flashing the attached kernel which is version 0.1.1 with a
modified
init.rc as described in issue 16.

It's the latest official release with my small changes.
I don't know if there has been any changes to the kernel after the 0.1.1
release.

@anbugge
If your changes are a fix for the booting problems then they should be pushed
to the
Gitorious repository. Then we can close this issue.

My change basically uses the ext3 partition on uSD for /data/ instead of NAND.
For
some reason, NAND doesn't work for a few of us.

I don't know the proper git way of doing stuff, but I'll attach the diff output
for
init.rc.

I've not tried using this with the automatic sd-install, only dfu, but
apparently
automatic install worked for Xroot0.

yes it work on automatic install
i put the autoinstall.zip to the sd card and then i replace the kernel to
kernel.img
from 'anbugge' and make the install , after this all work ok and no error.

i have this problem from version 7 of kuulo version and for this i stop use the
andro on the freerunner antil know.

if its work for all its look like its need to be the defualt 'init.rc' in the
repository
Thanks all for helping

This init.rc going back to the older Koolu model of having the data partition
on SD.
I would rather do two versions, one NAND and the other SD. That would also
resolve
http://code.google.com/p/android-on-freerunner/issues/detail?id=7 and make it
easier
for other Freerunner owners to try Android.

I had the same problem (freerunner stuck during the splashscreen) and i tried
the
kernel img attached to one of the previous post.

result: after the first few steps (until the white screen), the display turned
black
and now the phone seems to be dead.

I cannot enter the bootloader or turn it on, if I turn it on it seems alive (it
vibrates for half a second or so), but the screen is always black (ON, but
black).

any help is much appreciated

thanks

That kernel is very old (october), and probably doesn't work at all with newer
versions.

These messages might shed some light on the root cause of the problem, the
error
messages he got are similar to what I encountered when debugging my issues:
http://groups.google.com/group/android-on-
freerunner/browse_thread/thread/2046564c97169913/51e43b6e5927ce76?lnk=gst

I haven't played with my freerunner lately, so I haven't tried any of this
myself.

Hi,
the SD booting doesn't work for me, the only way I had to install android was
using
the .bin and .jffs2 (and dfu-util) from
http://panicking.kicks-ass.org/download/
(cupcake)

I would like to install the latest version (since I have some problem with the
one
I'm running now, e.g. process.media crashes always, making it impossible to use
the
phone) but I see that in the download section those kind of files are not
available
(.bin and .jffs2).

I also tried to install the .img and .bin with dfu-util but I had no luck.
