I confirm that for build 45. In fact that's the only blocking issue that avoids
me to
use the FR on a daily basis.

I can confirm this for build 46, too.

I use build 46 on FR GTA02 in Vietnam.
GPRS is not working.
I confirm it again.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
If you have a data plan, GPRS should work on most carriers, although I'm seeing
issues where GPRS doesn't start up after losing my wifi signal. If you're having
problems, please make sure you have an APN defined with proper information for
your
carrier in Settings/Wireless Controls/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names. Could
you
report:
- Whether you see an APN for your carrier in the Settings app.
- Whether the settings match what your carrier recommends.

If it's just a matter of your carrier's settings being missing in the installed
image, attach a comment here listing the settings that work, and we will add
them to
the build.

GPRS works for me at initial boot time, although there is an issue with it
connecting
again after you've been using wifi. For those who are experiencing this issue,
please
post information about your APN setting and attach a radio log gathered after a
boot
with the proper APN settings for your carrier in place. Thanks!

APN settings are exactly the same as what worked in earlier releases. Here's a
full
log from a boot.

Thanks for the log, but I also need a radio log (adb logcat -b radio) to get
very far.
Could you grab one of those, from boot until a couple of minutes after GSM has
connected? Thanks!

Do you have a correct APN profile for your network? Why are you manual
connected and
not automatic

Original comment by michaelt...@gmail.com on 26 Dec 2009 at 6:10

It is the correct APN config. How can I be in automatic mode ? I don't see
which option you're talking
about.

Looking at the log seems that the network is selected in manual mode and it
dont'
find an apn corresponding to your network registration. Can you retry with
network
selection automatic and send to us logcat and logcat_radio?

Original comment by michaelt...@gmail.com on 27 Dec 2009 at 8:04

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Effectively, I retried with automatic selection of network & automatic
configuration
of my APNs.. Android was able to connect with my APN.

But in logcat, I saw this :
D/GSM     (  917): dataEnabled[DEFAULT_APN]=true dataEnabled[MMS_APN]=false

I tested my MMS reception but it did'nt want to download it (gprs icon gone out
&
came back with the download button). Here is the logcat_radio_mms.txt &
locat_mms.txt
of the moment when I pushed the download button.
Must I open a new issue ??

Hi,
I give you some feedback.
Sometimes, GPRS doesn't want to work. I must turn the phone in Airplane mode
and come
back at normal mode into have the GPRS connection working again. This issue
seems to
appear when I shutdown the wifi radio. And maybe when I wake the phone from
suspend.

Otherwise, it works nice ;)

Thank you very much. I tried, but going into airplane mode and back did not
work. As
i remember it worked for me with a different build and with T-Mobile Germany
which
was auto configured. Is it possible to add Simyo for auto conf. and then try
again ?
So long

You need your mnc & mcc numbers before gprs will connect. Add these to your
settings
and I can add it to the apn listing.

Settings for "simyo Internet"

    * APN: internet.eplus.de
    * primary DNS: 212.23.97.2
      secondary DNS: 212.23.97.3
    * username: simyo
      password: simyo
    * MMC: 262
    * MNC: 03

Settings "MMS"

    * APN: mms.eplus.de
    * Gateway IP-Adress: 212.23.97.153
    * Port: 5080
    * User: mms
      Password: eplus
    * Homepage: http://mms/eplus

But i said: gprs works for the first time after boot. If i disconnect it
wouldn't
reconnect.

Thanks

Confirm. RC1 GPRS works fine for me as well.

Single problem remains: once it lost the connection, only a restart of the FR

up again.

Try switching Airplane mode on then off again, that should also restart GPRS.

that
I found on my provider's site (Megafon RUS) for HTC Hero (there is no generic
settings only for specific devices):

Name: MegaFon Internet
APN: internet

Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: not set
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set

MNC: 02
APN type: not set

That failed also with error in the browser:
No network connection. This page will continue loading after connection has been
restored.

I tried to switch off/on airplane mode but also didn't get connection.

Also I have the latest firmware (on the A6+) and GPRS and same SIM was working
fine
on SHR so it shouldn't be an hardware problem...
Should I try an old image ?

I have not been able to get an internet connection over GPRS.

Here are some log files I pulled off of the daily master build from 20100522
after
the G icon appeared and disappeared as it usually does.

I am using the APN named "web.vodafone.de", with username and password as they
were
given to me from 1und1 ( my internet service provider ), since this is the
configuration that worked under Debian and SHR. MCC and MNC were set
automatically
for me ( to 262 and 02 respectively ).

I have found some suggestions of other APNs to try ( mail.partner.de and
wap.vodafone.de ), but these also do not work.

I have not selected a "Network operator", as I have read somewhere that this is
not
necessary, but please correct me if I am wrong on this point.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help debug this. Thanks.

I've checked and rechecked my APN settings with several sites, and I'm pretty
sure they are correct.
Unfortunately, I can't get the GPRS symbol to appear and no web client ever
connects.
I'm using Cupcake 20100130 (image
android-on-freerunner-cupcake-week-2010-16.tar.gz).
I'm in Portugal, using Optimus (Rede4) network and this worked just fine with
SHR-U distro a week ago.
My APN seetings (if it's not here, it's blank):
    Name: Optimus
    APN: internet
    Server: *
    MCC: 268
    MNC: 03
    APN Type: default

Anyone know what else to do?

Attached you will find my radio log from booting up.

For some reason I cannot understand, it started working by itself.
All I did was a few restarts due to battery exhaustion.
Apparently Android is a reboot-oriented OS like Windows? :P
Keep up the good work. :)

After reading a lot of the other tickets, I understand what happened.
I had never tried Wifi until now.
The GPRS started working only after I enabled and disabled wifi for the first
time and rebooted.
So if anyone has the same problem, here's the workaround. :)
