Small volume increments/decrements?

I would like to have the same volume control behaviour as on the Sonos appl.:
If you press next to the volume-slider-knob (but still within the slider-range) 
the slider makes small steps in that direction (exactly as a scrollbar in 
Windows' windows).

In Andronos the slider jumps directly to the pushed area. (Imagine the shock I 
got the first time this happened!)

(Further, I would like to adjust the ranges of the slider - have my own min/max 
- but that's second prio...)

Joakim,

It doesn't quite work! :-(

Oftentimes the slider stays in the position where I tap the bar!
This is on Desire running Froyo.

(Maybe, and just maybe, I'll get the time to download the source and look at 
it...)
