I have same problem, the chinese and japanese language are shown as a blank 
square。

japanese language missing fonts. please copy files from cm7 /system/etc/fonts

chinese maybe a problem cause of arabic patch. Was the problem present in Beta 
4?

I copied japanese fonts from google sdk, on this screen, no effictive.

I had not tried beta 4, but at issue 27, beta 4 looked like work fine.

I think this problem is not about fonts, because in chinese apps, the fonts are 
displayed well.

I have the same problem too.
So I am wondering is there any solution now?
Only English letters show normally,
haven't try is there same problem with Chinese input method.

I installed the fix, but it taken no effective.

Did I need wipe after installed?

I found out the reason and the way to fix :
1. download the root explorer
2. using root explorer to go to /system/fonts
3. find out the DroidSansArabic.ttf
4. Change the Permission back to rw-r--r-- (long press the file)
done
