Onscreen Keyboard not available #2433

Since last update, i can't display the Keyboard to enter search. I am using x96 mini android tv box.

Same issue here. Keeps saying: use keyboard on your mobile device

version: Smarttube 17.95 Android tv version: 9.1.1(33.2.0.157) Nvidia shield pro 2019

Just updated to 18.15 and I have the same issue, it's telling "use the keyboard on your mobile device" even though I didn't link any devices in the Remote Control section in the settings.

It is a chrome cast issue. Go to Chromecast settings - system - keyboard - manage keyboards and only enable gboard (exact item names could be slightly off, given I'm translating to English from Dutch). I initially had a virtual wireless keyboard enabled...

It still says "Use Keyboard on your Mobile Device" even after other keyboards are disabled. The fix seems to work temporarily, but after an app update or period of time t seems to reset in the app, but the device still does not have virtual keyboards enabled.

Interesting, initially only 'Leanback Keyboard' was enabled, but enabling Gboard seems to have silently enabled Virtual Remote keyboard.

It does seem like a bug, but I'm not convinced it's with SmartTube at this point.

Getting it again and again as well. Seems to be version related for me. Back with the lastes for me.

After the most recent beta update, I started having this issue of it saying to use virtual keyboard on mobile device. Went into my Android TV's keyboard settings, and had to TURN ON the virtual keyboard, then the keyboard in search worked. (Gboard was on and I left it on.) Try this if you're having issues after a recent update.

Now the only issue is the update seems to have broken voice search, which was working fine for months.

I have had this issue on and off, even when the virtual keyboard is disabled, I'm getting the message.

Quick way to fix it is to turn the virtual keyboard on, go back in SmartTube, go back in the settings and turning the virtual keyboard off.

Not sure going into the app is necessary, but I do it anyway.

I figured out what my issue was. There's an issue with Home Assistant that causes this issue.

Disabling IME in Home Assistant for the Shield resolved my issue.
