Unknown source error Response code: 403 #3606

Open forestation opened 3 months ago

forestation commented 3 months ago

Since this morning I have not been able to play any videos in SmartTube. Instead I get an "Unknown source error Response code: 403" every time I click on a video on the Home screen.

The Home screen looks normal otherwise.

I'm on a Sony TV.

ETA: I've tried restarting TV as well as signing out of SmartTube then back in again, did not help. Problem also persisted after I updated to version 22.35.

Update: Problem seems to have been resolved for at least a couple of us.

I said It's all 3rd party that I have tried, Why do some people only selectively read without finishing the entirety.

Section25 commented 3 months ago

I'm using both the stable release and the beta. First, the stable version had the problem but not the beta (not sure which version). I saw the first stable update and that fixed the problem but then when I updated the beta (just to keep up to date), that started with the problem. Then the second update of the stable version brought the problem back - now neither version works.

burt-ie commented 3 months ago

Just started getting this error on my nvidia shield Pro, clearing the cache, data, uninstall, reinstall sign back in does not not work. Original youtube app still working fine

WalidLaabi commented 3 months ago

Same issue here on Mi Box (Android TV); the video stops working suddenly.

PS: I was on version 16.x.x when the problem occurred. I updated the app, but there was no change.

Luckily Revanced still works, but SmartTube not working is a bummer.

tunfie commented 3 months ago

Was working here before the update, after all i get is the 403 error

Error1404 commented 3 months ago

Just tried to delete and re-install on my Firestick. I am running version 22.37 (newest beta version) and still have the 'Unknown source error Response code:403'. Hopefully a fix is coming for this. Appreciate the work you put in for this app.

mattm3 commented 3 months ago

Same issue on my Nvidia Shield v22.37

HardNocky commented 3 months ago

Getting the same issue on FireTV stick. It was working 30 minutes ago on 22.36 then noticed an update note in the left menu. Updated to 22.37 then had the 'Unknown source error, Response code: 403' issue.

I've got another FireTV stick that I've not yet installed the 22.37 on and this continues to work, at least for now.

ApexAlpha commented 3 months ago

Same issue on Nvidia shield.

Tried: Rebooting, deleting cache, disabling YT app and back, reinstall SmartTubeNext.

No other apps have any issues.

SmartTubeNext version: 22.37

Hercules187 commented 3 months ago

Just updated to latest on my firestick and phone getting 403.

Cleared cache and data, no change
Uninstalled and reinstalled stable and beta, no change
Reinstalled original YouTube app, no change
Same issue whether logged in or not
Live streams continue to work

I shamelessly copied that from hard hardknocky but I have tried the exact same

twiikker commented 3 months ago

Didnt have issue before 22.37. Now i am having 403 errors. Nvidia shield tv pro 2017.

GreenBeanMech commented 3 months ago

22.37 breaks the clear cache/data workaround on my Nvidia Shield TV. As of now it still only giving Error 403 :/

wioo commented 3 months ago

Videos with 403 error are all being marked as watched.

Same :/

thestuartcarson commented 3 months ago

The old clearing data/cache solution I had for my Nvidia shield is now no longer working. Have updated to latest version, still no previous solution working.

FreeTube is also having issues so this could possibly be a change in the YouTube API?? FreeTubeApp Issue 5378

ACR-Jeff commented 3 months ago

The only thing I can get working is other apps that utilize the invidious instances, Everything else just fails

ACR-Jeff commented 3 months ago

I don't think this is just a new update, Newer versions issue, I have had both beta and stable installed, The bata was updated the last two days, The stable version hasn't been updated in months with an older version, Still had this issue.

ACR-Jeff commented 3 months ago

I've noticed live streams are working but not uploaded videos by content creators

Bahazzie commented 3 months ago

Same on my Nvidia Shield android TV box. Tried

  1. forced quit ST app
  2. Delete data & cache
  3. Reboot device
  4. New YT login

Nothing works. Really hope you guys can find a fix...

ACR-Jeff commented 3 months ago

Smarttube live streams work, But on Freetube they don't.

ACR-Jeff commented 3 months ago

Piped.video in your browser also works fine.

Same

Mantrid42 commented 3 months ago

I had the 403 error happen yesterday, after not having installed updates for a while. There was an update waiting (not one of the 403 fix ones), so I installed that, but it didn't help. Clearing the app data did fix the problem (after various other options failed), but I lost all my settings and pins. Restoring from local backup restored the settings/pins, but the error came back.

I was able to resolve the issue by replacing 4 lines in the GlobalPreferences backup file: visitor_cookie, oauth2_account_data, media_service_data, and media_service_account_data.

  1. Do a local backup from within the app settings
  2. Take a copy of that backup (using a file manager) and stash it somewhere safe
  3. Clear the app data and verify it now works (and sign into your Google account if you want)
  4. Take a new backup
  5. Copy all the files from your stashed backup EXCEPT com.liskovsoft.sharedutils.prefs.GlobalPreferences.xml and overwrite the newest backup
  6. Restore from local backup in the app

There are a few settings in that GlobalPreferences.xml that you'll have to re-set, if you just use the new version. Alternately, if you can edit your broken copy and just replace the four lines mentioned above from the good/new version, then you'll get all your settings back.

I did try using the GoogleDrive backup/restore feature, but it didn't seem to do anything when restoring, which is a shame, as that would be the easiest way to backup/edit your backup files.

notamaiar commented 3 months ago

Had no problems at all until installing today's update, now every version I've tried rolling back to (all the way back to 22.19) has 403 errors, and none of the workarounds listed here are working either. Hopefully a new release will fix this soon! 🤞

Wondering if this is related, I've noticed ever since this started my pi-hole adblocker has been spammed tons by embeddedassistant.googleapis dot com

Nope, got none of that on my server logs of pihole. Got many "firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com" but that's all.

harrypujols commented 3 months ago

I didn’t have this problem on the Fire Stick until I updated to 22.37. Installed YouTube app did not work. Deleting the cache, well I tried deleting the cache from the Fire Stick preferences that didn’t do anything.

PeterPompeo commented 3 months ago

New Smart tube next and beta updates version 22.37 not working except for live broadcast, have older versions on another fire stick but same problem, hopefully it gets resolved soon

ZeroFoxx commented 3 months ago

all versions of smart tube next have been giving this error for me, even after clearing cache, rebooting, and trying to do the enabling of regular youtube.

sokai commented 3 months ago

IMHO the last commit 2f3bfee911b5f6898471e7021d4e9913b49a4476 shows @yuliskov is working on this …(?) (The version inconsistency, which IMHO is mentioned in #3612, is a little bit strange for me, BTW) KR

Update: .oO(What's going on …?)

heyou9 commented 3 months ago

Updated to 22.37 this afternoon, now getting this error on every video. Using a Chromecast.

baby-fox88 commented 3 months ago

Updated and now 403 error for hours.

Uninstalled and tried 4/5 versions of beta and stable and none of them work.

All giving an unknown source error 403

HendrikMennen commented 3 months ago

I had this issue before updating today. After updating it persists. So probably something with YouTube api

mofongox commented 3 months ago

We're all in the same place. But the issue seems to be on YouTube's end. The exact same issue is happening on Newpipe (Tubular) on all my devices. Same with FreeTube on Linux. I tried with different VPNs and DNSs, different regions, even login in, nothing works.

For me FreeTube works if I'm using an Invidious instance instead of local, Piped.video website works in browser, Smarttube works if I watch Live streams but not uploaded content from subscribers, Etc.

Was running the old v20.90 which "just worked" for me and got the 403 today. Delete cache/data doesn't fix it.

elle8che commented 3 months ago

I believe version 22.19 is what I had until I checked for an updated version, which then took me to the most recent version. I can say that on my Fire Stick, both versions threw the 403 error. Maybe that means simply uninstalling and reinstalling would work?

I also wonder if those on the later version of SYT could backup your settings to the cloud -- the new setting to save to Google Drive -- and restore those settings after the next SYT update.

Either way, I'm not risking the effort I've put into my very specific setup, so I'll happily await the next update. By the way, YT is also throwing up ad blocker blocks in the web version of regular YT.

Just a quick FYI, I made the above comment yesterday on 8th, which is when the issues started on my device. I did nothing more than clear my cache, exit, reboot the Fire Stick, then update to VERSION 22.36 (from 22.19). I never clear my data unless it's a last ditch effort. Everything has been flawless ever since -- not to say things won't change, but all good for now, no glitches. I haven't read the 60 or so messages since mine, but I hope this helps someone get back on track until a final fix is available.

Oh, good to know. Google is seriously drilling down on this.

WukZarathustra commented 3 months ago

YouTube wants to take tougher action against ad blocking again. Browser +UblockOrgin + reVanced works. Newpipe + Smarttube is currently not working. Let's give the developers time to solve it again. You know how it works.
