Can't get HDR working with any resolution content #496

Open steve51184 opened 3 years ago

Had this issue for many previous versions but I'm currently using the latest v10.105

Error says 'Player error occurred. Restarting playback...' but it never plays.. the same video with HDR off works fine..

Device is a Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro on a Phillips 4k HDR/Dolby Vision supported TV

Just wanted to confirm I have the same issue with my shield tv pro 2019. Could be device specific

I can confirm this too. Tried it on my Shield TV 2017 and it didn´t work. Works fine on Fire TV Stick 4k though.

This is because the shield doesn't have the vp9 v2 certification on the hardware level, which is required to have HDR on YouTube and is proprietary. Shield will never have HDR with current hardware limitations

HDR is working with the official YouTube App though.
