App closing down and returning to home screen every time a video ends #686

I'm on CCWGTV with version 11.37. Did an update this morning, and now every time a video finishes in the app, it shuts down and returns to the home screen of the CCWGTV. It opens back up fine and plays videos without issue (before the update I was having the "videos not playing issue" reported here, where when I opened the video, it would simply sit there, black, at 0:00 and not play - this was apparently fixed, at least for me, by the update), but it's very odd and quite off-putting when you're watching through a playlist on auto-play.

Having the same problem. It will autoplay some videos, occasionally. So it probably has something to do with the file type. Not sure. It sometimes will say "can't download video" too

Devices:

  1. Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k
  2. Nvidia Shield TV Pro

Can confirm this issue occurs on Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k and Nvidia Shield TV Pro.

The app closes and returns to the devices home screen after some videos end.

Observed when autoplay is on and when autoplay is off.

T95Z crappy android device here and I experience this frequently. I'd say it happens like %80 of the time and started happening in last couple patches only.

Since v11.40 - ocasionally, only for a few videos, this happens on Android TV, too. Can't figure out a pattern for this...

Same issue here for me with Shield TV Pro 2019. After some videos the app crashes and kicks me out to the homescreen. Playlists and autoplay do not work now.

I'm on 11.42 on Philipps TV Android 8.0 and I still have this problem.

seems fixed for me after latest update to 11.42.

edit: on Google TV with Android

edit2: still borked after but took many videos for it to happen

Also fixed for me too. Sony Android TV XG83. Not a single issue in the past 24hrs, since 11.42

Version 11.42 still crashing on Chromecast with Google TV for me when trying to autoplay, intermittently. No obvious change from the previous version.

Edit: Version 11.44 seems to have fixed it

Still occurring with 11.42 on Fire Stick. Sometimes at the end of playback it will jump back to the next level up (like playing a Today Show video jumps back to the "News" category instead of the Today Show top level). Sometimes it will completely exit the app. Opening the app back up is like a fresh start - opening to whatever is set in Settings (for me, I have it set to open to Subscriptions).

11.44 is now rolling out. The only item in the changelog is a buffering fix (see https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext/issues/658), so it may not end this weird random end of playback issue.
