Same here, I am on Shield 2019. Please let me know if you need logs or testing. @satbegginer: do you know which version worked before?
Guys, try to find working version among old releases. And let me know, off course. https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartYouTubeTV/releases

6.17.01
, 6.17.68
- stuck on launching (too old?)
6.17.346
, 6.17.284
, 6.17.159
- problem exists
I have assumed that it's ok to restore the data, am I right @yuliskov?
The ALT launcher works OK, I just can't use it due to slow menu loading (the app hangs till all videos are loaded).
Hi, tested with 6.17.274, problem of crash a second video after search exists.
Will test further with other versions.
6.17.162 also have the same problem (Ps. Downloading previous versions really slow right now, but will try earlier versions)
6.17.159 same issue. This is what I do:
Stop and uninstall app. Install previous version like this one (.159). Do not restore data, don't upgrade, connect using code on YouTube.com/activate, Connect to my account.
Will test with older version again.
Tried two 6.16 versions, but they would not start at all on my box. X96Air running SlimBox X3 ROM.
Also tried 6.15.114. That does start, also mentions there is an upgrade available, ( I decline the upgrade) but than it starts the rotating circle very long..... And nothing else happens...
@satbegginer that's what I have posted above. It looks like it's a Shield specific issue. I have just bought it and thus cannot tell if it started after given Shield update.
I just remembered: I also have a MiBox3 with stock 8.0 (or 8.1 don't remember) firmware, so I will try that one too. Will let you know this afternoon.
Yep, it's my box... :-(
Version 6.17.482 (320 dpi) works great on my MiBox3 running Android TV 8.0.0, kernel 4.9.54 ( stock MiBox3 software, no updates)
Thanks for all the responses.
Stay safe, stay inside,
Leo
@yuliskov it's a Shield problem then. Do you think it can be fixed on SmartYouTubeTV side? The ALT doesn't have this problem, does it help? 😄
Thanks again for the feedback. I'm not sure right now. I'll continue to search for the solution.
Regards, Yuriy

@yuliskov I have problems with CEC on my setup, so I have reset/formatted both TV and Shield to test something. Now I am baffled as I don't have this problem anymore!
I have installed the app from the newest stable release, log in two accounts, used it for over a day and it's still working. So it really looks like this problem appeared after a recent in-app update but deleting the app did not remove all data.
@satbeginner can you remove the app, use a file explorer (like Solid Explorer
) and clear app data manually? Maybe it will help you.
Edit: proof that it's working again: https://youtu.be/okhEKkHRCgQ
Will try this afternoon and let you know :-)
Hi, I did the following:
From Settings I stopped the app, deleted it's data and uninstalled the app. Next I opened the X-plore app and went to the root (/) of the filesystem and searched for anything containing "YouTube" . It found 12 different files, they were cached apps and several .XML files. I removed all of them by deleting them. Some could not be removed at that time, but were no longer there after I rebooted the box.
The I installed the latest version downloaded from your GitHub (6.17.433) and installed that on the box.
After starting the app it asked me ( in russian? so I think) if I wanted to upgrade, I choose njet. I changed the language to English and tried search.
.... :-( same thing here:
if I use search as my first action, it will play the first movie I select from the results. As soon as I go back and select another movie from these results it crashes and go back to the launcher.
If I - after starting the app- play a movie from the home screen, and other movies without using search everything is okay.
If I use search after first playing movies from the home screen, it will return to the launcher as soon as I select a movie from the search results.
Same thing after upgrading to 6.17.482.
Maybe it has to do with the launcher?
I have just checked and it started crashing again. I don't know what triggers it but if you have any idea I can test it. @satbeginner thanks!
I've have the exact same issue here. I'm also using Shield TV Pro 2019. Doesn't happen on my Fire TV Stick 4K. Started having this problem more than a month ago. Haven't been able to rectify it. Kindly let me know if you need any logs.
Hi, I installed a new version of the SlimBox ROM on my box, and after that the latest version Smart YouTube, but the result is the same.
Playing video: no problem, but as soon as you use search, the problems start:
Search as first thing after starting the app: you can play only 1 video, plying a second video will crash the app.
If you use search áfter you already played one or more videos from the home-screen, it will crash the app as soon as you select a video from the search result.
I will search further,
Leo
Extra information:
If I use search as the first action after starting the app, and play a movie from my search result ( first movie played) that movie plays well.
When I interrupt that first movie to play another movie from the search result, the app crashes, but....
If I let the first movie finish and automatically go on to a second movie, without me touching anything, that second movie does play ok.
Hope this helps,
Leo
Hi, I found a work around:
Use the Alt Pro version;
AND!
First, use search to look for something, AND!, before choosing a movie from the search result,
use search again! to look for something else!
Now you can select a movie to play, and when you interrupt this play, you can select another result from the (second) search, etc.
So, use Alt version, and use search twice before selecting a result. ? Some variable not initialized?
So, maybe the solution can be found in software?
This is with version
6.17.504 ( SmartYouTubeTV4KAlt) 280 dpi
Un saludo,
Leo
The Alt Pro just works, I don't need to do anything. And since last update one can browse through the menu without waiting for videos to load, so for me it works just like Pro but without this problem

Hi, yes, you are right.
I must have missed something when I was testing earlier... ;-)
If I use the Alt Pro version it just works, no need to search twice.
Sorry for the misunderstanding,
Leo
Just upgraded to 6.17.482, same problem. (05-04-2020)
Hi, I use 6.17.475 on Android 9.0 TV, and it crashes when I play a second video, after I used search, so:
Open app, enter a search, select a result and play OK, now go back and select another search result to play, crash!
Or:
Open app, play something from the home screen OK, go back to home screen and play something else OK, go back and use search, select anything from the search result to play, crash!!
This has been the last 4-5 versions, but I did not know where to provide feedback.
Good luck and stay healthy,
