All videos show "Loading..." on black screen, audio plays #676

Tried to do cold restarts of the app no help, all videos have all black screen with "Loading..." centered.

Basically, no video has video, just audio.

Same problem here on PRO Alt. I get to see the video for a split second once I exit the app. PRO Main plays the videos just fine.

The same problem. I have Xiaomi Mi Box and I tried the Pro Main but the problem when I choose a video then I click back it stops for minutes and the screen shows "Loading"

Same here, some generic android tv (android version 9). It is now like that for more then 10 days. Prob. yputube changed something how it sends video data, or ads.

Edit: .724 version video works on Lite ALT option. So it is fix for now. No 4k option like this but at least it works.

@yuliskov 724 Pro Main Same problem over here - also when you stop a video (while playing) by the stop-button on the remote control of android Sony TV, you get a black screen with permanent message "loading..."

Also the exit screen of the app by pushing the back-button on the remote has changed today (with the icons of YouTube and your profile photo cut off)... probably also changes on the youtube-side/server... The contrast dark mode does not work anymore.... grey background. The save button, channel button, video suggestions do not work anymore. If you push the voice search button in the app, you also get a black screen with loading.... seems like all functions of the app are going down one by one.... a pity as this is one of the greatest apps ever developped. Hope you can fix. Thanks in advance.

I have reset the application but the same problem, I tried to uninstall it and I used an old version but the same problem.

In the original youtube app, there is some change in the screen when you play the video (after update). So, I think the problem with changes in the youtube server.

I have the black screen with "Loading" only when i go back from a video. If i press back a second time it works ok. Also when i want to exit the aplication it asks me if i am sure i want to leave. It is quite annoying to have all those extra buttons to press. Also Contrast mode is not working anymore either. Background is grey not black. I hope it gets fixed soon. I also reset the app, uninstall - reinstall. The BETA has the same behaviour.

Same here on PRO Main and alt. Also happens when I go hit D-pad down to bring up suggested videos and context menus. Lite launchers seem to be 'fine' but they're really painful to use.

I'm experiencing the same problems on my Nvidia Shield. For me, all these problems started immediately after updating these system apps a few days back:

These are the issues I'm currently experiencing, which are unfortunately making the app pretty much unusable for me at this point:

For reference, I know it might be tempting to attribute some of my issues listed above to network problems, but I do not experience any issues whatsoever if I use the original Youtube app.

I'm experiencing the same problems on my Nvidia Shield. For me, all these problems started immediately after updating these system apps a few days back:

  • Android System WebView
  • Android TV Core Services
  • Android TV Home
  • Android TV Launcher
  • Android TV Remote Service

These are the issues I'm currently experiencing, which are unfortunately making the app pretty much unusable for me at this point:

  • media playback buttons (play, pause, stop, etc) on remote controls do not work at all in LITE player anymore (sigh)
  • overall extremely sluggish behaviour, with it taking considerably longer time before videos start playing (both from start, and when skipping fwd/back), thumbnails sometimes taking several seconds before they load, and often the playback resolution doesn't start at the highest/correct one from the start and takes a few seconds before its correct.
  • Navigating to a video's Channel will not load at all anymore. Nothing happens at all.
  • the little red progressbar below each thumbnail that indicates how much you've previously watched of a video does not seem to update anymore. I can see it on older videos, but it doesn't seem to be updating on newly watched videos anymore.
  • pressing back on a playing video just brings up a black "Loading..." screen, and you have to press back once more
  • pressing back (to exit), now produces a somewhat weird overlay (that doesn't fill the entire screen) with a confirmation asking if you're sure you want to exit.

For reference, I know it might be tempting to attribute some of my issues listed above to network problems, but I do not experience any issues whatsoever if I use the original Youtube app.

The same thing happened to me, I have Xiaomi Mi Box, but additionally, I notice there is a change in the original youtube app after the last update. If you watch a video and you want to put like, you see a change between the old and new version. Or if you want to visit the channel.

Same problem just occured today. I have tried every single method playing around with the launchers and settings. But it didn't work and stuck at loading screen and unable to view suggested videos. I have noticed that smart youtube text and video is more clearer and sharper without any update. It is same happened to YouTube original app that was updated 14 Oct 2020. Right after that the problem occurred on smart youtube. So, it is of course because of the YouTube backend server changes stopping smart youtube to load links properly. Lets wait for the update.

Hello everyone I was also facing the same problem as you are all facing but now I got the solution of it you have to download a similar app like this that is PUFFIN FOR YouTube TV which is on also available on Google you can type this and search APK in the end then you can find this app and download it from there and your problem will be totally solved. Thank you so much I have also tried this and it solved hope I helped you all......

On FireTV Stick also shows loading when I go back to the Startmenue. When I click "back" button on remote a second the "loading" goes away and the menue shows.

It's working and not only that but now the mouse can be used to browse it fully. Awesome! :D

The latest version encounters a black screen at night, but there is audio. It is estimated that YouTube’s data transmission method has changed. Wait for the next version to update and fix the problem.

I have the same problem on the current version 6.17.728 (Pro Alt)

I think this issue is coming back after being fixed by .728. Now I can't see the playlist options on a video and once it finishes playing screen just goes blank. If I try to go back a blank screen with "loading" appears.
