3 years ago Same here. Most videos are only available in 720p. In the official App also in 1080 or higher. But there are also videos where Higher resolutions are available.

Yesterday I reinstalled my TV, after it got a new firmware. Sony XE8505, the new FW update is Android TV 9. I reinstalled the latest stable Smart Youtube TV, but most videos are played only in 720p, no option to watch the YT videos in 1080p or 4K :( I tried the original YT app, and it can play 4k 60fps HDR videos without problem (but full of ads...)
