Personally i would like to see the code re-licensed under something that is a bit less restrictive. I'd love to see it under the MIT or BSD licenses(because they are basically always compatible with any licesne) but LGPL is a possibility as well (it has is own license incompatibility issues as far as I understand though.)
Also because of this it prevent a ton of open source projects from legally using this library. Basically if i'm interpreting that article correctly, any project that uses a GPL library or is licensed GPL cannot this library. Which is like everything...
Just found issue #1 discussing this very issue. I probably should have looked a bit closer at the existing issues... It doesn't make this issue any less problematic though.
