Xinc wakeup #217

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
While I can't write to the ML, I open this as issues report.

Heyho,

as it seems, that this project sleeps, I'm interested in taking it over.

I would make a v2.0.2 from SVN after adding some small patches to work on
actually systems. As the server xinc.eu is down there needs to be a solution
for the pear channel. (I can also take the domain and host them with the
pear channel).

After the 2.0.2 I would like to resolve the open issuse.

Greetings Alexander Opitz//

Hey Alexander,

I would be interested in joining you and helping you in reactivating the
project. Have you taken any actions or made any progress yet?

Greetings Timo

Hi guys,

I was maintaining this project before, but due to health issues I have not been
able to continue the development.

I had given the project to another guy before, but seems that he is not taking
care of it.

Alexander, I gave you owner-rights of the project. Please let me know if it
works for you.

Thanks,
Arno

Hi Arno,

as nobody answered me till yet, I already started a fork on sourceforge (Xinc+)
checked in some small fixes, started renaming it to Xinc+ and fixed some coding
issuse.

So the question, what will we do now?

Greetings Alex//

My plan for the next time:

Task on source:

- Merge changes from Xinc+ back into Xinc svn trunk (mainly coding style fixes).
- Release the yet known svn state as v2.1 Alpha
- Sort the feature requests into v2.2 (short term) or into v3.0 (long term)
- Get the open bugs fixed for 2.1 Beta1/Beta2
- Release all as v2.1

Task on Non-Source:

- Get access to the xinc mailing list.
- Try to get the xinc.eu domain.
- Find a new home for pear channel.
- Fixup documentation and examples.
- Update pear packages dependencies.

Version 2.1a2 released.

Fixing version numbering (maybe not all) and some merge bugs from Xinc+ tree.

The pear channel will be available from http://pear.elektrischeslicht.de/ the
existing alpha2 package will be updated in the next days as the yet uploaded
version isn't usable/installable.

As all parts from branches now merged into trunk, and i didn't get new bug
reports, it's time to release Beta1, then fix the 3 open bugs and go on to
Beta2.

So it seems I can shorten the release cycle. So here my tasks:

Task on source:

- Release Beta1
- Get the open bugs fixed for 2.1 Beta2
- Release all as v2.1

Task on Non-Source:

- Get access to the google xinc mailing list.
- Try to get the xinc.eu domain.
- Fixup documentation and examples.
- Update pear packages dependencies.

As of now, Beta2 will be released in the next hour, all tasks are done to wake
up this project.

So this bug can be closed, remaining tasks may be remain forever.
