The current Makefile is quite plain and crude.

We can either
1. Write our own Makefile
2. Use Dev-C++ to generate the Makefile

Dev-C++ generates Makefile.win automatically for Windows system. Write a script
(Perl?) to convert the Windows Makefile to Linux Makefile.

Added a C++ program, convertmakefile.cpp, into the tools directory for this 
conversion.
