Checklist

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Click login
  2. Logged in
  3. Redirected to the youtube.com homepage on mobile
  4. Nothing else happens

Expected behavior

  1. Login
  2. Get a OAuth flow (or something similar) allowing me to authorise the app for accessing the youtube music section of my account

Actual behavior

Redirected me to youtube.com homepage

Note this bug happens to old android versions and newest version of Android 12 colour OS (12.1).

Possibly the oauth flow doesn't exist right now

If you're logged in, you can go back and access your account playlists. OAuth is not possible because the working principle is like a web crawler. Do you mean that you can't access your playlists after logged in?

Thanks, but I didn't find useful information inside. I want to make sure that you know your YTM playlists are shown in the account screen.

logged in and still doesn't appear. can confirm that debug version also doesn't show the account button either

Nope how comes the round icons at the top missing in his version or is it a light theme issue or hasn't updated @z-huang

Updated to the latest version, cleared data. Attempted to login, but it did nothing. Just showed me YouTube and I'm not logged in still

When i clicked on Login i sign-up successfully with my gmail account but then when it ask me to select my channel where my playlist is ...It showed error mention in the screenshot . Please fix the issue.

Still not working here. Using Android 13 Nokia XR20 and Android 12 on Samsung A33 same issue. Seems app is broken.

Normally you just login then click the top back button and go back to the app and it should work

Do you need help bug fixing? I've wanted an alternative app to manage Youtube Music. For years. Yet every alternative app is useless, and never works. When is this going to be actually fixed? Every 3rd Party application is broken with YouTube Music. It's driving many people slightly crazy....

So is this app considered abandoned? I've been a YouTube Music Premium customer since day one. I'd love an alternative app. I work in IT, I've tried everything and clearly InnerTune is broken. There is a big difference between YouTube and YouTube Music. I don't know if you understand that. I'll give it another couple of weeks and give up then, if there is no actual proper response. Thanks.

The development has been suspended recently because I'm quite busy with my studies. Currently I can't find the reason for this bug (can't reproduce). Any help from people with the development knowledge is appreciated.

I work in IT repair, although I'm not a programmer myself. If it helps, I'm willing to provide my login details and disable 2FA to assist in troubleshooting the problem. I've been a YouTube Music Premium Account holder since December 2020 (converted from Google Play Music).

Even though I'm not a developer, I value the hard work you put into this project, and it's certainly appreciated.

I've got the same issue. I was able to login to my Google account and select my YouTube account but then it just sent me to the YouTube homepage with no recognition from InnerTune. If I press the back button it just takes me back to the content settings where it still prompts me to login.

I suspect it may have to do with the fact that I have two YouTube accounts under my Google account.

It has nothing to do with two accounts. The app is just broken and has not been updated. Everyone I know has had this issue, with the latest version and everthing, from Stock Android to Samsung.

Maybe the dev has taken a break, after all they are humans :)

I agree on needing a break, but there are replies in August 2023 and nothing has been fixed, not even a simple notification that it's a work in progress...

I can't find one that supports login and is updated. The only ones I know are outdated, don't support material you or don' t support login.

Go find one yourself, if the developer doesn't want to work on this - let him be. It's that simple buddy. He made this for free, and you are demanding that he gives more? This isn't a paid app where you can harass him - if he doesn't want to work on this, let him be. It's that simple

Every day he has tried. This app promised and then stopped when it wad hard. Why does the app author just not delete the app if they cannot fix the issue? Why can they not ask for donations? Why did you respond without any help? Or recommendations? Maybe help....

You tried every app on GitHub that plays YT Music? I know of at least 13 or so at this time. Another option would be a modded app.

Huh? Sounds a little crazy just because of 1 issue. Besides, z-huang never said the issue wouldn't get fixed and has clearly asked for help with this issue.

Why can they not ask for donations?

Donations are welcomed as stated in the README.

  1. This is a free app - be grateful this exists solely for us
  2. It never promised anything, if the developer can't fix it, live with it then
  3. If that's too hard then go make a YT app yourself then instead of being an ungrateful fuck over this

To me, it sounds like a) You are too lazy to find alternative YT apps that could fix your issue, and b) You'd rather waste your time and energy whining like a baby over spilt milk instead of finding an alternative YT app that probably fixes your issue.

The current situation is: The login feature works for accounts with one channel. If your account has multiple channels, the app can only get the information of the first channel. I haven't found the way to get information of other channels, and there's hardly any resource I can find. Therefore, I hope someone can help with it.

Not sure how useful this can be, but there's another app called SimpMusic where the log in works for accounts with multiple channels. I just tried it and it recognizes my YouTube account. The app is available in GitHub, I didn't share the link to avoid spamming.

Thank you for the hard work on the app. I do have two accounts. I originally used Google Play Music and was forced to migrate to YTM. I keep seperate accounts, as I host videos and want to keep YouTube and YouTube Music seperate. Google hates paying customers. I'd be happy to give you access to my accounts, if you'd like to test.

"Google hates paying customers", what are you smoking? Music isn't free and artists live on people paying for their music from royalties. Hell YT Music isn't even the worst compared to Spotify out of the bunch

I found a temporary solution. When you're stuck on the YouTube website signed in, choose the channel you want to use first. Then search up "YouTube music" in the search bar, find a video that has the "music.youtube.com" link in the description, like the official YouTube music channel video/promo has a link, click the link in the description of the video and then once you're on the website back out of the browser back into innertube, you'll be signed in. Worked for me.
