So I just reviewed the page link http://www.z390.org/z390_Standard_Timestamp_Support.htm and while the content is facinating if you are into time, I'm not sure the detail belongs as part of the z390 manuals. If the content belongs anywhere, its probably in the SVC services doc (see https://z390development.github.io/z390/svc_services/) Any views on what parts of this content should be saved. My view is that there is no content that makes sense for the z390 manual so I am inclined to move forward without it.. but I am new here, so would love to get views from @jyganci @abekornelis and @dsh33782.
It is indeed very informative, but only a very small amount of it is specific for z390. I would suggest to move that information to the description of the TIME macro (macro services and/or SVC services manuals). It would be interesting to know Don's opinion about this, though.
Abe, all
I am very interested in making the z390 project WCAG 2.1 compliant which should include changing any link to websites which are not compliant if possible:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/wcag/
Being a 76 year old person with low vision due to long term aggressive glaucoma,
I am particularly interested in the section on color perception. I need high contrast to see text and when I use white on black accessibility settings, a lot of websites do not comply and some are not visible at all. Here is a little from guidelines:
1.4.1Use of Color
Level A
Color is not used as the only visual means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element.
Note 1: This success criterion addresses color perception specifically. Other forms of perception are covered in Guideline 1.3 including programmatic access to color and other visual presentation coding.

Anthony, all
I agree the z390 project scope does not include teaching all about timestamps so we can leave it out just like I think we should skip teaching about other tools such as Eclipse and Notepad++.
I do think it would be great if we included recommended reference links to tools and standards we support. We could even include email contacts for those willing to help others by answering questions about tools and standards.

Don,
you're not the only person with eyesight problems. I support your suggestion to the extent that we make all new content accessible according to the guidelines.
I'd like to know how Anthony feels about this. And I'd be curious to learn whether or not this will take a lot of effort.

The timestamp information is very interesting, and as Abe said, informative. How about moving it into an Appendix to the SVC services manual and provide a link to it where the TIME macro is described?

John Ganci

Abe, all
Thanks for your support. Two examples of commonly used tools that do not conform to color and contrast settings include Eclipse and Microsoft Expression Web 4. For both of these I have to turn off white on black Windows 10 settings in order to see some of the controls on the screen.

Raised by Liz Cook 2017/08/15 page www.z390.org/z390_Standard_Timestamp_Support.htm links to timeanddate.com from local time zone. Unfortunately, that site isn't very accessible for the sight impaired. Would you consider adding a link to a more accessible version like www.thetimenow.com/worldclock.php which is WCAG 2.0 compatible?
