'1991: Red Winter' began as a LARK Game for Florida Polytechnic University - Intro to Unix course. It's purpose is to educate the public on the use of Linux/Unix with the terminal, while making a fun and immersive game out of it.
Directory agnostic using $PWD to determine the working directory of the game so stats (HP, XP), inventory, and notes can be saved into corresponding files.
Initialize HP and XP
Both HP and XP files start with -1 to indicate 'New Game'
HP set to 100 and decrements with hit points or increments with heal function (+33). Heal can be used 3 times
XP set to 0 and increments with the auto-notes from plot advancing objects or manual user notes (based on wc -l of notes)
Initialize certain global functions such as save, notes, inventory, heal, and stylize (if possible) so that they can be accessed regardless of working directory
Initialize PS1 prompt to show character name, HP, and XP
