you don't think so but it is a fact that multiline status messages are useful
and
used by people.

Here are the arguments Jakub.
#1. Windows Live Messenger does not support Multi-Line display messages (in the
GUI).
#2. Users will NEVER see all these multiple lines, not in contact list, not in
chat
window. If we did. you could potentially have a user who takes up HALF of your
contact list.
#3. The purpose of a display message, is for 1. (showing a quick note) and 2.
showing
what song or media you are playing in Banshee or whatever.
I think that your idea is basically just not suited for the purpose of a display
message. I think if you need to send automatmed multi-line messages to people,
it
would be better to setup a contact notification system or some kind of alarm or
timer
that would send out messages to people who either come online, or send you a
message
(answering machine style). This is in Pidgin as "Buddy Pounce" feature.
This is the only application I could see your multi-line message being useful. I
certainly do NOT agree with it being the Display/Personal Message, nor should
multi-line messages show with newlines in the contact list, or chat window's
identification bar.
I think that most people will agree with me. If you can get other users to share
their opinions on this one then we can discuss it, but otherwise, i do not see
any of
us doing this.
Sometimes Jakub, you just have restrict the options/features that are availabe,
you
cant make a program a "pocket-knife" application that does everything. Its just
not
possible. You cannot make everything configurable to every single possibility.
You do the best you can, offer the best features that are
quick/easy/user-friendly,
and you make them work well. I think this feature, is fluff...

gg and xmpp supports multiline status message. many bots on xmpp use multiline,
many
people, so why don't give such ability?
