On this one i'm actually not sure I agree. Mind you, different people might see
that
differently. Perhaps we should allow choosing which one its attached to.

Yes, you are right, may be you could add an option in preferences? i'm just to
used
to closing tabs with ESC.

I think it's logical to close tab with ESC, as closing the window already has a
window manager keybind.

I think this one is more of a "Boss" feature. Where you have to get rid of the
window
ASAP to try and hide it from someone who has come in :P
Am i wrong?

That's not a bad idea, but you could implement a feature present in Msn Plus
for WLM:
Pressing ctrl+alt+space all conversations and contact list are hiden (sent to
tray)
and WLM's icon's changed to a system one so the Boss doesn't find anything out
of the
ordinary ;)

perhaps this can be added as an addin :P
I think the issue is to have the ability to hit a single keystroke easily that
will
allow the current window to close quickly.
ESC is easy to reach without screwing up, while pressing a double or tripple
keystroke is much harder.
I've settled on Control-T to close a tab, and ESC to close the window.
Now ultimately i want to have a keybinding preference panel that allows the
user to
setup his own. This will come.

I like the idea of being able to set up the keybindings, but for now i prefer
much more ctrl+w than
ctrl+t, most programs that dont close tabs with ESC close then with ctrl+w and
ctrl+t is used to open
new tabs. I don't know what the rest think, but i believe we should return to
ctrl+w.
I also agree with the idea of closing everything with only one keystroke, but
this should be
configurable, as galaxium will also be intended for desktop use and MSN users
should be very used
to closing tabs with ESC.
By the way, don't you think we could add an option in preferences to be able to
change tab
placement? I mean like in pidgin, you can choose to have tabs at the top,
bottom, left, right, lef
vertical and right vertical, two last ones are not so useful, i believe, but i
actually love my tabs placed
on the left, so it would be nice to have that too.

I have fixed this issue, now tab placement allows setting between those 6
options in:
Preferences->Interface->Conversations

Phil, tabs should have a maximum width, at least for placement on the sides,
when a
contact has a long nickname the tabs look huge.
