Configuration:

local-history.path: ~/.vscode-history

It doesn't work on linux system. Consider character ~ on linux system

I think that we should make it work on Windows as well – this would allow easier multiplaform configuration. PowerShell supports also using ~ for home directory so it would not be the only case of using tilde on Windows :).

Also, I would like to try to add this feature, but seeing so many old open pull requests I am afraid that mine will be ignored as well and the work would go to waste. I would like to know, if the project is still maintained or maybe I should create a fork

This issue is already fixed for next version. See branch next... This project is still maintained, but I was busy until now.

Partially fix in version 1.8.0. Character ~ is supported now. Restore doesn't work yet.
