Backspace in IE #51

In Internet Explorer, the backspace key is a shortcut for the "Back"
button, causing the browser to exit WebShell and return to the previous
page. This behavior is infuriating, as I keep accidentally hitting
backspace and losing my shell. Can this behavior be suppressed, so that
backspace actually sends a backspace to the shell?

Which version of IE?

I am only getting a black screen on IE6 / windows XP. Works fine for firefox,
and with some jumping through
hoops it also runs on chrome / windows xp (downloading certificate and
reimporting it as trusted)

Backspace has the same annoying behavior for me with Chrome 4.0.223.16 running
on
Windows XP sp2.

IE7 doesn't seem to handle web-shell very well here, everything is printed on a
single
line, but backspace appears to have the same behavior as described above.
