What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Rebooting doesn't help
2. Restarting Media Player doesn't help
3. Nothing helps really.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Media Player shows: (no songs) and (no videos)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest (30 April 2010)

Please provide any additional information below.
I really would like to solve this!

Problem solved: it only exists when the N900 is connected to a pc through usb.
Disconnecting the N900 is the remedy.

Ive just installed "extra decoders support 0.3.4-1" and its still stating "no
music"
and "no videos" on the n900s built in media player, even after a restart.
Single mp3s
and (some, not all) avi videos will only work in the default player if I click
on
them individually from inside their own folders. After a couple of restarts of
the
media player and/or n900, the player states "scanning media folders" with a 2
or 3
min/sec time limit, but even if I wait for 5 mins the player still gives me "no
music" and "no video". All of my media files are in the default locations
untouched,
so Ive no choice but to uninstall the codec pack now, and hope that will sort
the
problem, back to the way my n900 was before installation. Im using the last
official
firmware update available via the update service on the phone (not the nokia
optional
official web updates).

Its a long wait until an official non-development stage vlc player gets
released, but
it might be worth the wait. KMPlayer is also pretty decent, but as with this
decoder
pack, not all audio/videos are always playable-eg around 80% of the videos most
packs
state are compatible may work- no doubt it depends on resolution and other
factors of
each video or audio file which may cause compatibility issues on the phone.

Same problem with 0.3.4-1, it stopped working after PR 1.2 update.

Please wait for new release of decoders-support 0.4 and see if that helps.

Solved by reinstalling extra decoders. But for some reason even more albums
disappeared from the normal view and now in the (unknown artist) mapp.

Try "tracker-processes -r" from command line 2 times and then start player.
