The objective of this technique is to show how to tag an external link, for example a link to a website. The link text can be the URL itself like in the first example or simply text like in the second example. An appropriate Contents entry for such a website link is for example the URL or the title of the destination webpage.

When needed to exemplify what JAWS is speaking, I’m using the same notation used in our guides for tagging psudo code. For instance, <H1> {foobar} means that JAWS speaks the text foobar as a heading level 1.

 

JAWS reads it fine:

My JAWS2019 reads the link text and the URL. So it says link https://www.pdfa.org https://www.pdfa.org It seems not logic to have the URL associated with the link text. I expect that the link text read by the screenreader is the one that is visible on the screen

I have attached another sample [^simple link.pdf] which has removed RoleMap, unnecessary grouping elements, Spans, Document Root > Extensions, Outlines, ViewerPreferences > Direction, Lang and modified alternate descriptions
