Because this framework will probably never make it mainstream, the best thing to do would be to port the functionality into libraries for CodeIgniter, either separately, or over-riding core functionality with MY_ libraries.

Screw mainstream. This framework will keep going even if I don't use it. It's too much fun :D Eventing FTW!
