Initially, Things had not had support for specific budgets. This was an intentional choice, with the rationale (drawn from experience in the nonprofit world) that earmarking funds was a net-negative behavior, artificially limiting and constraining choices. If people want to manage funds in a more granular way, the thinking goes, they can develop accessory systems for doing so.
In practice, that seemed an unnecessary exclusion. The lack of specific budgets has made it harder to manage finances, even when the intention existed to do so.
We propose to add support for multiple budgets in the Things app.
