What journal are we targeting?

I think we are ruling out JOSS as we'd like a little more space to be able to describe some benchmarking results. However I am not at all familiar with technical journals in this area so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Given the lack of movement here, I may suggest revisiting JOSS as a potential candidate journal. As I understand it, the JOSS format would support a short discussion of benchmarking results.
