In case something goes wrong or the pipeline itself contains logical errors, it is very hard to figure out what is going on. It should be possible to

get a clear indication in which step the pipeline failed. Currently one does not see more information than the error message itself
have a way to inspect the output/input of a particular step for debugging purposes
