Strange Shared Dimensions that are "read-only" #1317

Open FabianCretton opened 1 year ago

Since a few days, we see some strange Shared Dimensions on TEST and INT, as: image

They have no names and were certainly created by some Zazukos' pipelines ?

Here is an example link when mouse-over: https://int.cube-creator.lindas.admin.ch/app/shared-dimensions/https:!!!!politics.ld.admin.ch!!organization!!type!!legal

The english labels of these dimensions are still missing. @magdasalatka would you mind to add them?

tpluscode commented 1 year ago

I see that quite a lot of those keep appearing.

I might propose an additional filter on the top such as "hide externally-managed dimensions". It would be selected by default so that only dimensions created in cube creator would display initially.

l00mi commented 1 year ago

That is dangerous, if external managed dimensions are not seen, we risk people recreating these. So I prefer to push for language fall back to other languages if "english" is not available.

tpluscode commented 1 year ago

I don't think there is anything for cube creator to do. We now show a No translation message for external dimensions without labels. I would propose closing this issue.

tpluscode commented 5 months ago

Since this was brought up on GitLab, I think we might consider actually changing the meaningless "No translation" text to at least show the actual URLs.

@tpluscode just my idea from a user perspective:

tpluscode commented 4 months ago

We might do that too. And only then fall back to the URL is there is not a single label in any language

@giacomociti ☝️

giacomociti commented 4 months ago

ok, I would like to rely on displayLanguage which is already referenced in the TermWithLanguage.vue component, but I noticed it includes less languages (only ['en', 'de', 'fr', '']) and in a different order

giacomociti commented 4 months ago

ok, I also added a language tag when we fallback using a different language

I hope this is even less confusing for users.

A bit techy with the @en. Maybe it's more natural like (en)
