There seems to be a pattern of posts being tagged at some place...
[something] "is in" / "is at" [somewhere]
Thanks for the heads-up and the post's screen-shot and HTML code snippet.
Give me a couple of days to figure out a filter-rule to detect these posts (have seen 1-2 of them today, trying to figure out what makes them "different" from ordinary posts).
These unwanted posts are proving a bit harder to filter out. Others have said they're the same as posts from people/pages you follow.
Will take me more time to see if it is possible.
If you frequently get the unwanted posts from a certain person or page, you can use the Text-filter option to hide them. e.g. adding "Alpine world cup" would hide all posts having that phrase.
I suggest a workaround for this problem - filtering out posts that exceed a certain number of likes, eg 1K. The limit and option should be user settable, and would enable the user to filter out any posts from pages or groups, since their friends posts won't be able to reach those numbers.
The unwanted posts are increasing though and it looks like the time might have come to finally stop using Facebook :))
filtering out posts that exceed a certain number of like
Good suggestion - I'll look into implementing this feature request.
Beta version 4.28-7 available for you to test / try out.
To install it, visit the link and then click on the "Raw" button - your browser's userscript manager will then ask if you want to install this script.
Note it has some other changes made since v4.27 and I'm still testing/reviewing those changes.
Let me know how you get on with the "Maximum Likes" option listed in the News Feed section.
I have a feeling that FB devs are subscribed to this repo.
Note the missing like count
That's odd - haven't seen one like that one before. Do you get many of them? Are they all from pages, people and groups in the News feed that you don't follow?
Am 99.9% sure the fb-cmf userscript isn't hiding the Like count box only.
Do you need an option to hide posts having Like emoticons and no counts?
No I know the fb-cmf isn't hiding the like count - I haven't updated it yet. This is the first one I've seen.
Hiding posts having like emojis and no count - maybe - let's see how frequent they are.
Regarding the hiding posts with a maximum number of likes feature - it doesn't seem to catch them all
Is that number the place-holder text? If so, then it won't do anything.
No, it's a normal like count within a <span>
Sorry, I meant in the fb-cmf's dialog box. When you enabled the option "Maximum number of Likes", did you input the number "1000"? (There's a placeholder text in that field that shows "1000" when the input field is empty)
Yes, I'm sorry. The feature works after inputting the number (I thought the placeholder text was the default).
Still Facebook is showing some random posts with a low number of likes which are very difficult to filter out.
Not able to detect random posts - don't see many of them. Not fixing in v4.28.
Hiding posts with Likes over a certain number has been implemented & published.
v4.28 is now published.
Some suggested posts from Pages I don't follow still show up without any indication that it's a suggested post (no text, no Follow link)
