Raise Exceptions #19

Instead of just returning False, I should raise detailed exceptions

Definitely, just make a new branch and submit your changes there. If it all looks good i can merge it into the master. Thanks for showing interest, I've been meaning to spend some more time on this recently and some better exception handling would help a bunch.
