Oops, feel free to close this issue as I just saw someone else mention it.
Since then, however, they have updated the HDMI firmware. It seems I'm capable of booting into macOS Sonoma 14.5 with Apple GuC loaded without any hitches (GPU clocks down appropriately, wakes from sleep, and has full acceleration). The Thunderbolt changes may also appeal to you as well.
Oh thats good news! Thank you for sharing. I think I updated those but can't hard to double check, they may have released another bios. Asus seems to be busy with it. I hope they will allow under voting again but I doubt it haha.
I'll do a clean install using a full installer instead of the ota. I just keep getting iGPU related panics for some reason. Maybe something else is causing the issues on my test system.
Possibly! I just fresh installed the 15.0 beta myself, although I have yet to re-enable the Secure Boot model since install. Could that possibly be the key difference there?
Hopefully you get it sorted! And to confirm your experience: I did also lose WiFi and Bluetooth, but nothing to be done for it until the maintainers push something upstream. Wired networking via I219 works flawlessly enough.
Let me know if you need anything from me to investigate, I just got done putting pressure on this system (Xcode 16 install, full Time Machine backup, and an encoder test)
Not an issue with the repo per say, but wanted everyone to be aware that Intel has offloaded all NUC related development to ASUS, who is actually actively maintaining the NUC8 lineup with new firmware.
To access these, you'll replace
<NUCmodel here>
inhttps://www.asus.com/supportonly/<NUC model here>/helpdesk_bios/
with your NUC's SKU (for example, I have a NUC8i5BEH, so I'd visit https://www.asus.com/supportonly/nuc8i5beh/helpdesk_bios/).It appears they've done a lot of work lately and it would be interesting to see if they fixed any long-standing bugs (especially with the TB3 controller).
I appreciate your work in making these affordable mini PCs the best bang for the buck Mac minis we can ask for!
