Python language not detected in version Zed 0.158.1 #19662

Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it

.py files are no longer recognised as python language after updating to latest Zed 0.158.1. Steps to reproduce:

  1. Upgrade to latest version
  2. Create a main.py file
  3. Open language toggle: no python shown in the list

Other languages are visible in the toggle language list.

Environment

Zed: v0.158.1 (Zed) OS: macOS 15.0.1 Memory: 8 GiB Architecture: aarch64

Super odd. Anything related in your Zed logs? Does this still happen with the latest release? You said it happened after an update, could you try and download an old version and see it's fixed: https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/releases
