Codeium support #4726

Open khushmeeet opened 1 year ago

khushmeeet commented 1 year ago

Check for existing issues

Describe the feature

Currently only Github Copilot is supported in Zed. It would be nice if Codeium AI is integrated into zed as well.

If applicable, add mockups / screenshots to help present your vision of the feature

Big +1, Codeium is a free AI-powered toolkit, while GitHub Copilot can be expensive for some. Supporting Codeium will certainly help boost developer's productivity, and attract more users to use Zed.

JayGhiya commented 10 months ago

This is the need of the hour :)

dampodraza commented 10 months ago

It would be great to have it

websmithcode commented 6 months ago

UP

And needs to support Gihub Copilot Chat 😀

pqn commented 6 months ago

Codeium dev here, sounds like a good idea to me :)

broisnischal commented 4 months ago

do we got codeium?

xsa-dev commented 4 months ago

Please add Codeium support like for Copilot.

tokiory commented 4 months ago

bump

rezalastana commented 4 months ago

Hopefully ASAP

psalm842 commented 4 months ago

I'm wanting this too. Listening to the changelog podcast episode with Nathan Sobo right now and heard him talking about copilot integration on Zed and immediately looked into codeium integration. I've used both and think codeium is better (though it's been a while since I've used copilot maybe they've caught up)

fatflash commented 3 months ago

I would love to see that support in Zed, it would most likely mean the demise of visual studio code on my mac.

pqn commented 3 months ago

Codeium dev here, sounds like a good idea to me :)

I want to mention at this point we have first party integrations in some popular environments, including CodeSandbox and Deepnote. It would be great to automatically provide our features to any Zed user.

CFerndp commented 3 months ago

Do we have any kind of roadmap or Gantt to know when will be finished? This is for me the last step before migrating from VSCode to Zed :)

Once it's available I'll switch to zed & codeium for good!

CFerndp commented 3 months ago

Any update about this?

This is a very important feature, available in VSCODE and JetBrains IDE. Its really stop many developer

RedShore117 commented 2 months ago

i really love zed and codeium, so if u could mix it up together it would be a game changer for many devs to use zed as main code editor

broisnischal commented 2 months ago

What's the update on this ? only waiting for codeium for switching !

ding103092 commented 2 months ago

+1 here! Waiting for this addition for zed.

cdruet commented 2 months ago

I'm a Sublime Text user. I started using Zed and I love it. Getting Codeium, would make me switch permanently.

tednaaa commented 2 months ago

freidev commented 2 months ago

Hi, this is the last issue for changing permanently from Visual Studio Code (VS Code). 🚀

elenakrittik commented 2 months ago

I'd like to kindly ask everyone not to send "+1"-type messages as many of us are subscribed to this thread and want to hear about actual updates. As Moshyfawn said:

If codeium is integrated into Zed, then I can comfortably make Zed my default code editor. And I'm sure a lot of people feel this way... So, please still waiting on this...

icarusgk commented 1 month ago

Yess! The codeium integration would be the only thing missing to make Zed the default editor for many people. 👀

StrangeInsider commented 4 weeks ago

Any Updates?

Please, I want to leave VSCode. How we can do this?

You can try Neovim, btw ;) I gave up waiting for this integration and switched few weeks ago.

199ocero commented 3 weeks ago

Could we ask for a roadmap, please?

AlexYelisieiev commented 2 weeks ago

Add it, please...

Or else

cenktekin commented 2 weeks ago

Waiting for this great feature..

haseebuchiha commented 1 week ago

Is it still not here? Come on!!

tokiory commented 1 week ago

I think zed itself is already ready to use, the only thing it lacks (in subjective opinion) is the optional choice of service for AI autocompletion.

Codeium in this case will be an excellent alternative to Github Copilot, because it works excellently in the same VSCode/Jetbrains IDE (sometimes even better than Github Copilot).

It would be cool if there was some kind of roadmap or at least an approximate priority for this task

Maestroharyor commented 1 week ago

@tokiory I agree. Just can't wait for it..
