Is there a way to add functionality so that you could keymap the exec command? Would be useful.

This repo only contains the code to make zathura installable via Homebrew. It sounds like you are asking for a feature in Zathura itself. If so, you can open an issue on their repository: https://github.com/pwmt/zathura
