Trackpad scrolling in macOS #79

Open emergenz opened 3 years ago

There is no trackpad 'smooth scrolling' in macOS. I also have an arch linux installation on my macbook and I know that trackpad-smooth-scrolling works in arch. When I scroll with the trackpad on macOS, it just scrolls using the 'scroll-steps', just like when pressing 'j' or 'k'.

Does trackpad scrolling work for anyone? If not, any idea how to fix it? I would gladly fix it myself, if anyone has any guidance.

Are you using the stable or the HEAD version? HEAD contains some fixes which should improve the integration with macOS. However I don't know if this will affect the scrolling behavior.

I am indeed using the HEAD version.

It doesn't work for me as well. In my case it also scrolls too fast with trackpad.

Its the same for me, one thing that I noticed is scrolling is smoother on my external monitor. On top of that, scrolling was also smoother when installed on my MBP 2013 (non-retina) which leads me to think that this issue occurs because of high DPIs on newer macs (I am currently using MBP 2018).

How do I lock the trackpad scrolling to be only vertical? Currently, it keeps going sideways.

Smooth scrolling doesn't work with my track-pad but it does work with my external mouse wheel.

Can confirm smooth scrolling does not work with touchpad. I'm on a MBP 2021.

For me the scrolling was way to fast (pixel count of MacBook?), I changed my zathurarc to smaller srolling-steps, not very nice, but at least it works: set scroll-step 1 set scroll-hstep 1 set zoom-step 1
