Switching workspaces doesn't remember active tab (pinned only) #2782

Captchas

What happened?

  1. Be on pinned tab or Essential
  2. Switch from workspace A to workspace B
  3. Switch back to workspace A
  4. The active tab is no longer the same

This only affects pinned tabs or essentials. Basically it switches to the last non-pinned tab or a creates new tab if there aren't any at all.

Reproducible?

I found a similar unsolved discussion titled Last-active tab focus when switching workspaces, which might be related to the issue you're experiencing. It was last updated on August 26, 2024 [1].

Regarding the behavior you're observing, the current implementation seems to prioritize non-pinned tabs when switching back to a previously used workspace. If no non-pinned tabs are available, a new tab is created for the active workspace [2]. This might explain why the active tab isn't remembered for pinned or essential tabs when switching workspaces.
