Pages app - light display issue #123

Hello,

On the Pages app, on Mac Big Sur 11.0.1, Macbook Air M1. Switching to daytime appearance creates transparent borders ... When I'm in night mode of the system, and I apply the daytime theme for Pages on Gray, there are these transparent borders on the document...

The problem :

The version that should normally be displayed :

Thank you for your help

Hey @Zeldemir,

How does it look for you if you reset the application setting for Pages so that it will follow the system and then switch it to dark mode? Does it still look transparent?

Even so, I don't think there is anything that we can do in the application because the only thing that Gray does it so configure an application to use a specific setting in the user defaults (as stated in the README).

Thank you for your reply @zenangst. In system dark mode, and in mode that follows the system, no transparancy :

On the other hand, I notice when I am in day mode on the system. And that I switch to dark mode on Gray. No change :

And when I am in system day mode, and I set the day mode to Gray, transparency ...

Perhaps there is a subtlety to the Pages app, day and night, that is different from other apps.

I wonder if this is simply a conflict of the system juggling the core setting and having specific overrides. I've been running macOS in dark mode and using Gray for so long that I've lost track of the "source of truth" of what it does look like without modifications so that is why this has gone overlooked from my part. But like I stated previously, this does not modify the actual application, only changes on setting per app so even if this is a side-effect, there is nothing we can do to correct it.

We could however update the README that there are potential "side effects" when applying said settings just to let people know about it.
