Thanks for the suggestion. The challenge of the map is not only to collect the places itself but also if a hackerspace is still open/active. (See also the census part of my site). A quick inspection of the data from openstreetmap included spaces that are closed, so that makes this data less desirable for my site. I will check it later again and see if I can use the openstreetmap data.
