I've not yet applied SP2 for 9.3.1, it will be interesting to see if similar
errors occur. Can any of the data used in your series be posted publicly? If so
please do, files up to 10mb can be attached.

I have attached the two shapefiles that I am using to create the map book and
series index. The index layer is mapgrid, the page index is the MAP field. I am
trying to create the series index using ROADNAME field in cen_lines layer and
indexing by Page Label.
The link to the ESRI thread is the correct one. The author attached a print
screen of the errors that are identical to the errors that I am getting.

I was able to replicate the error with your data on 9.3.1sp1 so it's not an SP2
issue. I was not able to replicate it with my own data (a square grid and road
lines) which indicates there is something about the structure of yours which is
tripping Mapbook up. Which grid tile is missing from the series index?

When transferring shapefiles around it's best to zip them up first, otherwise
it's too easy to miss pieces. Select the files in Windows Explorer > r-click >
Send To > Compressed folder.

The missing tile is I09. Also, prior to upgrading to 9.3.1, I did not get an
error creating the series index using the same data.

I have I09 missing as well. I don't know what to suggest for further
troubleshooting.

Same Issue here.
OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
Can't create any Map Series since a week ago. I Also tried using DS MapBook. It
gives the following error message "CreateSeries - most likely you do not have
unique names in your index layer!!!".
Grid Generator also gives an error when clicking Finish.
"Error creating
5: Invalid procedure call or argument"
And next error box:
"cmdNext_Click - 450 - Could not create the new output feature class"
