I believe https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/700f72f8e424486633b1c8da9313182e63072592 to be the culprit as I think it reloads the subtitle stream every time we sub-step and it makes for a pretty jarring experience.

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/0f2370476b4279040261878c601fb8015a8502d7 is also possible but probably not.

I'll start trying to think of a workaround, and hopefully we won't have to take it up with mpv.

This may already be fixed. I'll wait for next shinchiro build.
