But it's a bit too static then, I think… "You have to use THIS Keyboard" with "THIS Language" and so on. When I used it on my German ISO Keyboard there are a few things you have to think about. I think a script or maybe ansible based provisioning would make more sense here

Let me know if you get it going! If so I may make an install image so we have it preserved -- would make it easier for people to get started, too.
I haven't looked in to this yet, but would it be feasible to just make a raspberry pi imager file that does all the configuration beforehand? Include all the packages and setup and stuff.
And then it boots and the user connects to wifi and we are done? Could make things easier for people who just want to get going.
