Hi @michael15286! Can you let me know what planets this occurs in? This is the second time it's been reported (firstly by @Enet4) but I can't seem to replicate it myself.
The only difference in movement for the captain should occur on the two moons (Zycar and Naquarin), where low gravity causes the player to have high inertia. It shouldn't however affect the acual movement mode itself (i.e. vehicle vs absolute).
I remember facing this bug when entering one of the moons (can't recall which), Errxelz 8 (but only when entering it a second time) and the alien planet in the Zoo.
@michael15286 @Enet4 I can't for the life of me replicate this, which is frustrating because it sounds like a pretty major bug. The fact that it only occurs on some visits to a planet (e.g. second visit to Errxelz 8 above) infers it's got a relatively complex cause... if either of you come across it again or can give me any steps to reproduce, I'd be very grateful!
Perhaps a game save where it happens will suffice, right? I'll try to make one for you this weekend tops.
Since the latest Steam version retired being able to manually set your control type ('absolute' vs 'relative') in favour of just 'absolute', as a workaround I've switched the change in control type to 'absolute' rather than the previous 'default'. If this does indeed solve the issue, I suspect that this bug was caused by a Notrium bug rather than a mod bug!

The controls scheme from the ship continue to be used by the player (Captain) while on the ground. ie. no left/right movement, must face in direction you wish to walk in.
